After years of anticipation and a globally projected teaser campaign featuring their iconic logo, the legendary Rolling Stones have officially confirmed the release of their first studio album since 2005, titled “Hackney Diamonds.”

The full details surrounding the album‘s content and release will be unveiled at a special event taking place in East London’s Hackney district on Wednesday. During this event, the band’s iconic trio, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ron Wood, will engage in a live interview with “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon. The event will be hosted and exclusively streamed worldwide via YouTube.

While Hackney may be the album’s heart, the Rolling Stones are making this a truly global affair, ensuring fans around the world can join in the excitement via YouTube. The group has been diligently working on new material for several years, with a brief hiatus to record a blues standards album released in 2016. One particularly exciting rumor suggests that at least one song on the new album features contributions from the two surviving members of the Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

This forthcoming album marks a poignant moment for the Rolling Stones, as it will be their first release since the passing of Charlie Watts in 2021. Watts was a founding member and had been a consistent presence at nearly every concert and recording session since the band’s inception in 1962. In the wake of Watts’ passing, the band toured with drummer Steve Jordan.

Despite their members entering their eighties, the Rolling Stones have continued to tour actively in the 21st century. Mick Jagger, who celebrated his 80th birthday on July 26, has impressively maintained his vocal and physical prowess. Following a pandemic-induced hiatus, the band resumed its “No Filter” North American tour in the fall of 2021, paying tribute to Watts while commemorating the band’s sixtieth anniversary with a multi-date “Sixty” tour of Europe last year.
