In the opening clip for MGM’s Creed III, Michael B. Jordan is back in the ring.

This time, Damian, played by actor Jonathan Majors, opposes Jordan’s Adonis “Donnie” Creed. It had additional pressure for Jordan because it was his directorial debut in addition to being the third edition of the franchise.

During a press conference on Monday, Jordan spoke of his relationship with Majors as a director, saying, “Me and him bonded in a manner that I never had the opportunity to.” “I’m directing that director-actor dynamic for the first time. Now that I fully get it, we have a link that will always exist. I’m simply really fortunate to have that man at my side. Additionally, he made fun of Majors’ portrayal of Damian, calling him “a pivotal person and cornerstone” in Adonis’ life.

Jordan debuted in the MCU with Black Panther in 2018 and, ironically, has competed against other MCU stars in other Creed movies. Florian Munteanu from Creed II later made an appearance in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, while Majors, the adversary from Creed III, is now Kang the Conqueror, the new main nemesis of the MCU.

Jordan made his acting debut as Donnie in Ryan Coogler’s Creed in 2015. He then went on to star in Steven Caple Jr.’s Creed II in 2018, before taking over the director’s chair for the third installment, which will be released on March 3. The third sequel will not include Sylvester Stallone, who appeared in the first two films as his iconic character Rocky Balboa alongside Jordan.

Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Wood Harris, and Mila Davis-Kent are also featured in Creed III.

Jordan, who has been working with Thompson since she played Bianca in the first movie, said: “Having gained each other’s confidence is a major thing. The nicest praise she has ever paid me is that she trusted me with a narrative.
