Keith Richards stopped over to wish Mick Jagger, a fellow Rolling Stone, a happy 80th birthday.

“Mick, happy birthday. Happy 80th, may we continue wishing each other that for a very long time! Richards tagged a special video he posted to Instagram on Wednesday morning with the words “Love, Keith.”

The rock icon is seen in the footage typing away on a keyboard while sporting his trademark half-buttoned shirt. He concludes his little piano riff with a chuckling “Hey, Mick.”

The birthday child is then addressed personally by Richards as he turns to face the camera. “I guess, um, may we say this to one another for as long as possible. Mick, happy birthday, you know. Enjoy another fine. Then Richards seemed to realise that he hasn’t truly spoken to Jagger in a while, only sending him online videos. The famed guitarist laughs into the camera, “And give me a call.” “Tell me how it is,” I said.

Fans went absolutely crazy with the film, showering Richards with congratulations on his and Jagger’s big day in the comments section.

Jagger and the Rolling Stones are still going strong in spite of this landmark. To celebrate their 60th year as a band, they started their Sixty tour last year. Sadly, it was their first European tour without Charlie Watts, the drummer, who passed away in 2021.

Rock ‘n’ roll, or really any type of pop music, isn’t designed to be performed by people in their 70s, Jagger said in an interview with The Sunday Times last year. It was not intended for that. At this age, exerting much energy is really pushing it. However, this makes it even more difficult. To put it another way, it’s like, “OK, we’ve got to fucking do this right,” but it has to be as intense as possible.

In a later interview with Swedish radio station P4, Jagger stated, “I am not planning [Sixty] to be the last tour.” I enjoy going on tour. If I didn’t enjoy it, I doubt I would do it.

He sent a message with the words “Thanks so much for all your lovely comments and birthday wishes!!” and an emoji of grateful hands and a heart.

On December 18, Richards will also commemorate his 80th birthday. We now ponder Jagger’s possible celebration strategy.
