I Am Groot animated series to release on Disney+ this August

I Am Groot

The first poster for Marvel Studios’ animated series I Am Groot has been revealed. The graphic says that the series of original shorts will premiere on Disney+ on August 10th. While the Guardians of the Galaxy gear up for a cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder, Baby Groot will have his own Disney+ adventures.

On the poster, a very comfortable Baby Groot is seen listening to music, chilling against a Walkman, with a drink at his side, soaking in the lamp light that is undoubtedly substituting for the sunlight that mortals require. From behind a tree, two white four-eyed creatures stare at him. Apart from the poster, Marvel and Disney haven’t said much about the series, except that it would “follow Baby Groot’s glory days growing up, and getting into trouble among the stars.” according to Marvel. We don’t know if any other Guardians will appear in animated form in the series, or if it will only center on Groot.

The series will follow Baby Groot, who is an adolescent in the main MCU continuity. Groot, a tree-like creature, first debuted as an adult in the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy. When he died, one of his body parts was planted as a tree and grew into Baby Groot. This Baby Groot will be followed throughout the series.

Groot, a tree-like humanoid in the MCU, will be voiced by Vin Diesel, while “Guardians” director James Gunn will serve as one of the show’s executive producers. “I Am Groot” has Ryan Little as the lead writer and Kirsten Lepore as the director. James Gunn is also working on the Guardians Holiday Special, which is scheduled to release during the holiday season in 2022.

Marshmallow, Sven, Scrat, Baby Scrat, Carl, Russell, Fly, and others who may not have gotten enough screen time in the movies they were in are the subjects of short series on Disney’s streaming service such as Dug Days, Olaf Presents, and Ice Age Scrat Tales. All of these series are primarily aimed towards children.
