An active in-ring performer, Barrett was once the leader of The Nexus and a five-time IC Champion in his career. Now, in an interview with BT Sport, Barrett, confirming the signing of a new contract with the company, said,

My comeback will soon complete 2 years. My contract was actually about to expire, but now I have signed a new deal. 2 years have passed and I am happy about my work. I returned in August 2020 and
I am very happy with this news. I love his commentary work. Now a new deal has been signed. I am very happy to be associated with WWE and my work in NXT. I like the atmosphere here.

Although Barrett played most of the time in WWE as a heel superstar, he has grown his fanbase as a commentator and fans have appreciated his commentary work.
