According to Deadline, Miguel Gomez will not be returning for Season 4 of FBI: Most Wanted. After making his debut as Special Agent Ivan Ortiz midway through Season 2, the Latin actor became a series regular. His decision to leave was described as a “creative decision.” Gomez’s departure is the most recent addition to the series’ cast.

Julian McMahon, who played Jess LaCroix, had previously quit the series, citing the desire to pursue other creative ventures as the reason for his departure. Dylan McDermott who entered the series as a new character who will command the team, took his place. Kellan Lutz (The Legend of Hercules) also left the series after playing Special Agent Kenny Crosby.

Ortiz, a former LAPD Gang Unit officer born and raised in Los Angeles who, after a spell with the FBI’s counter-terror unit in Washington, DC, joined the team that chases down the country’s most wanted fugitives, had a satisfying conclusion in the Season 3 finale. Ortiz returned to Los Angeles in the finale, which aired last week, to care for his dying father.

While fans may be disappointed by Gomez’s exit, they will be relieved to learn that the show has been renewed for a fifth season. McDermott told CinemaBlend when the news first surfaced in May, “Wow! It blew my mind. David Hudgins, the showrunner, called me and I just couldn’t believe it. A pickup was definitely in my mind, but a two-year pick-up? I wasn’t even sure that even happened anymore in this world, in this marketplace, so I was just thrilled.”

McDermott will return for Season 4 alongside Keisha Castle-Hughes, Roxy Sternberg, and Alexa Davalos, the other regular cast members of the series. Wolf Entertainment is producing FBI: Most Wanted in collaboration with Universal Television, a branch of Universal Studio Group. Dick Wolf, David Hudgins, Ken Girotti, Terry Miller, Arthur W. Forney, and Peter Jankowski are executive producers. Greene & Associates Talent Agency represents Gomez, who has also appeared in The Strain, SMILF, and L.A.’s Finest.
