“Alienoid: Return to the Future” (Korean: 외계+인 2부; RR: Euigye+in 2-bu; meaning “Alien+Human Part 2”) is a South Korean sci-fi action movie from 2024, helmed by director Choi Dong-hoon. Starring Ryu Jun-yeol, Kim Tae-ri, and Kim Woo-bin, the film serves as a sequel to the 2022 production “Alienoid.” It revolves around the efforts of humans and monks striving to rescue humanity by journeying back to the present amidst an intense battle for a newly discovered weapon, all while confronting concealed truths. The movie premiered on January 10, 2024, in IMAX, 4DX, and ScreenX formats.



Lee Ahn, trapped in the past, endeavors to retrieve the Divine Sword to unlock the gate of time while preventing the escape of an alien prisoner inhabiting a human body. In her quest, she seeks Thunder’s assistance to return to the future. Meanwhile, a mysterious presence within Mureuk’s body troubles him. Pursued by Heug-seol and Cheong-woon, two mages suspecting an alien presence within Mureuk, as well as Neung-pa, a blind swordsman coveting the rumored divine sword to regain his sight, and Ja-jang, who desires to claim the divine weapon, Lee Ahn and Mureuk navigate through challenges.

In the contemporary setting, casualties arise from the detonation of haava, an alien substance unleashed by an escaped alien prisoner named The Architect. Min Gae-in, an inadvertent alien witness, launches an investigation into the incident. With a mere 48 minutes remaining before the haava’s catastrophic explosion, Lee Ahn must unlock the gate of time, return to the future, and halt the impending devastation. Ultimately, all concealed truths come to light.
