As the pandemic hit the world, the ways to get our entertainment saw some massive changes. However, nothing tops the announcement made by Warner Bros. yesterday where they revealed that most of its 2021 movies will be released on its homegrown streaming platform HBO Max and in theaters on the same day.
Big Bombshell Dropped By Warner Bros.
Cineworld recently censured Universal Pictures for pushing ahead with an excellent VOD rollout of Trolls World Tour in the midst of the pandemic over the late spring, however it surpassed desires for the studio. Contemplating that and Warner Bros’ enormous moves one year from now, that appears to have moved Cineworld’s position regarding the matter.
THR has reported that Regal proprietor Cineworld Group has responded to Warner Bros.’ move by looking past the pandemic to a possible concurrence with the Hollywood studios. A representative stated, “Cineworld knew about WB’s arrangement to deliver Wonder Woman straightforwardly to its homegrown streaming platform, which has been reported when our theaters stay shut in the US (Regal) and UK (Cineworld). We accept that at such a period WB will hope to agree about the correct window and terms that will work for the two sides. Huge films are made for the big screen and we can’t hold back to return our films in Q1 to offer our clients, as usual, the best spot to watch a film.”
Movie Studios were forced to change their traditional ways all along the year. Big names like Disney had to release their highly anticipated movies like Mulan on Disney+ at a cost and Warner Bros. too had to shift the release of WW84 to HBO Max. Online streaming platforms have now become a popular choice for many big studios this year. What’s more, Warner Bros. dropping its deliveries one year from now is by all accounts the correct call rather than steady delays.
