What to Expect from the Entertainment Industry in 2022

2022 is set to be packed with a ton of blockbusters that will be making their way to the silver screen. There will be more action, more comic book films, more entries into beloved series, and so much more.

If you have spent any time on the internet, whether you play poker online or work, you will already know some of the enormous titles on this list. Here are some of the biggest entertainment industry releases in 2022.

The Lost City

The Lost City is an upcoming adventure/romance/comedy film starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, with Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt in supporting roles. Bullock plays a romance author who is kidnapped on a book tour with the cover model and star of her latest release, Tatum.

Alan Caprison, played by Tatum, then takes it upon himself to rescue Bullock somewhere in a vast jungle with zero survival skills and little brainpower to help; hilarity and love ensue.

Morbius

A film that Marvel fans have been wanting for years is finally here; Morbius, the Living Vampire, is set to be played by Jared Leto, with Matt Smith co-starring and Michael Keaton reprising his role as Vulture.

Not much is known about the movie other than we will see Morbius try to find a cure for his rare blood disease. The character and his story fit the MCU perfectly, and this could be the start of more Morbius films and appearances.

Ambulance

Ambulance, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is an action/thriller that sees Gyllenhaal’s character needing $231,000 for life-saving surgery for his wife. He reaches out to his step-brother, a criminal, for help. After talking Gyllenhaal into a robbery, the plan goes sideways fast.

They shoot a cop, and what ensues is a car chase in an ambulance with the EMT and dying police officer as hostages.

The Northman

While some may think Viking-styled movies and stories may be overdone, The Northman is a gritty take on the typical Viking stories and sees Alexander Skarsgaard play a young Viking prince seeking revenge after his father is murdered.

The film will also star massive names like Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Willem Defoe, and Bjork, with Hafthor Bjornsson, who played Gregor Clemane in Game of Thrones, appearing too.

Legally Blonde 3

It has been 19 years since Legally Blonde 2, and fans have waited patiently for a third film, and they will finally get it in May of this year. Reese Witherspoon returns as Elle Woods, and that’s, unfortunately, everything that is known about the film at this point.

While it is safe to assume the third film will see Elle in full swing as a lawyer, there is a chance that it could be more family focussed considering the time that has passed in the Legally Blonde world.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The next big MCU and Dr. Strange release is hitting our screens in May of this year and will see the Doc enter the Multiverse to face a new and mysterious enemy. The events of the movie take place after No Way Home and the first season of Loki in the MCU timeline.

What fans are incredibly excited about is the appearance of Professor Xavier in the movie trailer, which marks the first appearance of an X-Men character in the mainline MCU movies. Fans have wanted this crossover for years, and we could be seeing the start of it this year.

Jurassic World: Dominion

The last installment in the beloved Jurassic Park/World series will see the return of Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire, and we get Sam Neill as Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm.

The return of the original Jurassic Park characters is needed as dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside man. This story will see if humans are truly the apex predators, or will dinosaurs return to the top of the food chain?

Avatar 2

After years of waiting and countless rumors of a sequel, 2022 will be the year we get a sequel to the phenomenon that was Avatar. Sam Worthington reprises his role as Jake Sully and has formed a family with Neytiri, played by Zoe Saldana.

Details of the plot are scarce, but we know that an old threat returns to Pandora to finish what they started, and Jake and Neytiri need to explore the mysterious corners of Pandora, where no one has gone before.
