Walk the Moon Announces Indefinite Hiatus in Emotional Video: “The Time Has Come”

Popular indie rock band Walk the Moon has announced an indefinite hiatus through an emotional 11-minute video shared on Instagram. The group’s frontman and original founder, Nicholas Petricca, expressed the need for a break from touring and making music together, leaving fans filled with both love and heartache. As they embark on this new chapter, Walk the Moon reflects on their journey and expresses gratitude to their dedicated fanbase. The band also promises new music and a special streaming event to celebrate their time together before their hibernation begins.

In the heartfelt video message, Nicholas Petricca shared the band’s decision to take a significant pause from their musical endeavors. Expressing love, gratitude, and appreciation, the bandmates acknowledged the impact Walk the Moon has had on their lives. With the band having been the main focus of Petricca’s creative love and energy for half of his life, stepping back is described as an act of love, allowing the band to rest and recharge.

Additionally, they will stream the final show of their 10th Anniversary Tour as a premiere event on YouTube, creating an opportunity for fans to connect and watch together.

Nicholas Petricca hinted at exploring his own solo project universe during the hiatus, branching out creatively beyond Walk the Moon. The video also suggested that other band members have projects in the works, adding anticipation to what lies ahead for the individual members. Formed in 2006 by Nicholas Petricca, Walk the Moon experienced several lineup changes before solidifying with guitarist Eli Maiman, drummer Sean Waugaman, and former member Kevin Ray in 2011. The band gained recognition with their hit single “Anna Sun” in 2011, followed by the success of their chart-topping track “Shut Up and Dance” from their album ‘Talking Is Hard.’ Throughout their musical career, Walk the Moon has captivated audiences with their infectious energy and distinctive sound. Walk the Moon’s announcement of an indefinite hiatus marks a bittersweet moment for the band and their dedicated fanbase. The decision to take a break from touring and making music together is fueled by love and the need for rest and rejuvenation.
