Tyler Childers, the acclaimed singer-songwriter hailing from Kentucky, has set the music world abuzz with the announcement of his upcoming sixth studio album, “Rustin’ in the Rain,” scheduled to release on September 8 via Hickman Holler/RCA. The highly anticipated LP follows his 2022 triple album “Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven?” which showcased his immense musical talent alongside his band, The Food Stamps. As a prelude to the forthcoming album, Childers has shared the lead single “In Your Love,” accompanied by an emotionally charged music video directed by Bryan Schlam.

Childers’ music has always had a profound impact on audiences, and “In Your Love” is no exception. The heartfelt lyrics and piano-driven melody create an atmospheric yet powerful backdrop, drawing listeners into a moving narrative of love and life in rural Appalachia during the 1950s.

The video, creatively directed by Silas House, unfolds as an exquisite visual masterpiece that captures the essence of an era where two men, portrayed by Colton Haynes and James Scully, find love amidst the hardships of working in the coal mines. Silas House, a celebrated New York Times bestselling author and the Poet Laureate of Kentucky, skillfully weaves a touching story that reflects the realities faced by LGBTQ individuals in rural communities during that time.

Through flashbacks, viewers witness the tender moments between Haynes and Scully as their love blossoms, concealed from the prying eyes of society. They find solace in secret dates, picking four-leaf clovers in the forest, and building a life together filled with happiness and affection. However, the couple’s happiness is short-lived as their love is exposed by a fellow miner, leading to a harrowing attack. Forced to leave their hometown, they seek refuge in each other, establishing a warm and loving home on a serene farm.

The emotional journey showcased in the video mirrors the sentiments encapsulated in Childers’ evocative lyrics. In a poignant scene, the couple attends a local bar to watch Tyler Childers perform with his band, creating a seamless connection between the artist’s narrative and the video’s touching storyline.

Silas House beautifully captures the joys and sorrows experienced by LGBTQ individuals in rural settings, breaking stereotypes and championing visibility and representation in a country music video. He and Childers worked diligently to ensure an authentic portrayal of rural life in the 1950s, eschewing cliches and painting a realistic picture of the times.

Childers’ forthcoming album, “Rustin’ in the Rain,” promises to be a rich and diverse collection of songs that he playfully pieced together, imagining how he might pitch them to none other than Elvis Presley himself. The album will feature a blend of covers, a co-write, and original tracks that embody Childers’ unique musical style.

As fans eagerly await the release of “Rustin’ in the Rain,” Tyler Childers continues to captivate audiences with his storytelling prowess and emotive performances. The singer-songwriter’s ability to connect with listeners on a profound level sets him apart as an artist who not only entertains but also moves hearts and minds. Throughout his career, Childers has garnered critical acclaim and earned two Grammy nominations, solidifying his position as a leading figure in contemporary country and Americana music. As he embarks on his musical journey with The Food Stamps, fans can catch him on tour, where he shares his soul-stirring performances with enthusiastic audiences.

With “In Your Love” serving as a compelling preview of the album to come, Tyler Childers’ “Rustin’ in the Rain” is poised to be a heartfelt and captivating addition to his impressive discography. As the singer himself put it, he hopes listeners enjoy the album as much as he relished creating it—a sentiment that resonates deeply with his devoted fan base.

As we eagerly anticipate the release of “Rustin’ in the Rain” and celebrate the heartfelt storytelling of “In Your Love,” we applaud Tyler Childers’ commitment to musical authenticity and his dedication to crafting narratives that reflect the diverse experiences of people in rural America and beyond. His artistic vision and unwavering dedication to his craft continue to make a profound impact on the world of music, ensuring that his legacy will endure for generations to come.
