Katy Perry is getting ready to make a splash with her next album, and she’s not holding back on the excitement. The pop star, known for her vibrant and catchy tunes, gave fans a taste of what’s to come during her PLAY Las Vegas Residency on Wednesday.

In a playful and sassy remark on stage, Perry, who was donning a yellow dress with stylish cut-outs and accompanied by dancers in showgirl ensembles, hinted at her upcoming “KP6 era.” She quipped, “If you couldn’t love me in my Witness and Smile eras, then you can’t love me in my KP6 era,” as captured in fan-captured footage.

The announcement of “KP6” signals the arrival of Perry’s sixth studio album, which will be a follow-up to her 2020 release “Smile.” While albums like “Witness” and “Smile” performed well, they didn’t quite achieve the same level of commercial success as some of her earlier works like “Teenage Dream.”

Perry’s “Witness” album, which included hit singles such as “Bon Appétit” and “Chained to the Rhythm,” was followed by “Smile” featuring tracks like “Daisies” and “Not the End of the World.” Now, the pop star is poised to bring a fresh wave of music that she has been working on with heartfelt inspiration.

In a recent appearance on Good Morning America, Perry revealed some insights into her creative process for the upcoming album. “I’m writing a lot and have written a lot from a place of love, because I’m feeling so much of it — so much unconditional love, that love you never knew existed,” she shared.

Motherhood has played a significant role in Perry’s creative journey. The artist, who welcomed daughter Daisy with Orlando Bloom in 2020, expressed how her family has become a wellspring of inspiration. She stated, “I’m always writing, I have been, but I think what’s really important to me is to be celebrating the world that I’ve got to build with all of these wonderful songs and to be responsible for a life for a 3-year-old.”

Perry’s commitment to her family and music has fans eagerly anticipating the release of “KP6.” She emphasized her daughter’s involvement in the creative process, saying, “Daisy always gets the first look. Whatever music I am writing, I play it to her and see how she loves it.” With her residency underway and more than 50 shows planned, Perry’s “PLAY” is far from over, and the excitement surrounding the upcoming album is building.
