She was an Italian American religious sister who founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and achieved the distinction of becoming the first U.S. citizen to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. According to the film’s press release, Cabrini was not only a religious figure but also a formidable social entrepreneur who left an indelible mark on the 19th century.
