Arizona also said that at this point, it won’t be making any more statements about the forward. According to Katie Strang of The Athletic, Galchenyuk was detained on Sunday by the Scottsdale Police Department on suspicion of a variety of offences, including a hit-and-run on private property, disorderly conduct, refusal to comply, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating behaviour.

According to Strang, the forward was arrested on Sunday night and released on his own recognisance on Monday. Monday saw his arraignment. The forward had previously spent two seasons with the Coyotes before his brief stay with Arizona this offseason. He went to the desert for the first time in the 2018–19 season (72 games), and then returned in the 2021–22 season (60).
Galchenyuk had his greatest season as a Coyote during his first year in Arizona, tallying 19 goals, 22 assists, 41 points, and 34 penalty minutes. The forward played in 11 games with the Colorado Avalanche during the previous season. During that time, he had eight shots on goal but only four PIM.
Galchenyuk’s unconditional waiver claim is the Coyotes’ most recent action this offseason. The team signed Travis Dermott to a one-year, two-way contract the day before. Along with trade for defenseman Sean Durzi, the Coyotes also acquired newcomers Travis Barron, centre Alex Kerfoot, forward Jason Zucker, defenseman Cameron Crotty, and goalkeeper Matt Villalta through free agency.
