The BAFTA Film Awards 2024 in London proved to be a night of triumph and celebration for Christopher Nolan’s biographical epic Oppenheimer, which clinched seven prestigious BAFTA trophies, including Best Film and Best Director for Nolan. The ceremony, hosted by the charismatic David Tennant, also saw Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things claim five wins, while other films like Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Maestro went home empty-handed.

Fox presenting the Best Film award to Oppenheimer, and Robert Downey Jr. winning Best Supporting Actor, 31 years after his last BAFTA win. Emma Stone shone bright, winning Best Actress for her role in Poor Things, and Cillian Murphy took home the Best Actor award for his outstanding performance in Oppenheimer.
Despite its nine nominations, Killers of the Flower Moon failed to secure any wins, along with Barbie and Maestro. Sandra Hüller, nominated for both The Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall, left without a trophy, with Da’Vine Joy Randolph winning Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers.
The ceremony also featured captivating performances, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s rendition of “Murder on the Dancefloor,” featured in Saltburn, and Hannah Waddingham’s emotional performance of “Time After Time.”
