Adarsh Singh was born on 24th February, 2002 in Patna. After, he was brought up in the same. 19 year old Adarsh has many hobbies that he likes to indulge in, such as cricket (that he plays professionally), listening to music and swimming in his leisure. He is a professional cricketer, playing for the state of Bihar. To talk of schooling, Adarsh studied up until class 10th, after which he had to forego his schooling because of professional cricket training.

The ability to keep a cool head is an invaluable trait in every cricketer. And true to that, his strategy for difficulties is very simple. Instead of just charging headfirst into situations, he says, he just does not think too much about it. He believes in himself and has faith in the process. And with that notion, he is certain that all will be fine one day. His struggles have made him what he is today. Everything he has, it is because of how hard he was worked over the years.

He told us “I really struggled hard to achieve these stage of my life my father has worked hard for it. I struggled financially and mentally as well.” and yet, he played on. He plays cricket because he loves it, he trains and works hard for it, but his love for cricket is not the sole source of motivation for him.

Adarsh says, he originally took up cricket because it was his dad’s dream to see him become a professional player. And with the help of his mentors, his father and his coaches – whom he calls Robin sir and Gulrej sir, he started training to achieve this dream from very early on. Being a hard worker, he has overcome the challenges in his way, and has now accomplished his dad’s dream.

But he most definitely does not intend to stop here. Now he has a dream of his own. And his dream for life is to represent India one day. When asked about his likes and dislikes about the sport, he said that while he does love cricket, likes playing matches, he does not enjoy the fitness training and the strict diet he has to maintain in order to play the said matches.

Speaking of matches, his accomplishments of which he is rightfully proud of are the 2 centuries he made while batting at number 08. His favourite player and his constant source of inspiration is none other than Ben Stokes, England’s all rounder. Looking at him, Adarsh wants to achieve as much as his idol has. And for that, he hustles.

He is well on his way to achieve all his dreams too. He has already started his journey by playing u-16 and u-19. And being only player to take 5 wickets in zonal matches, certainly helps his case. His message to public is simple but effective. He tells us to “keep grinding your day will come” He believes in putting your trust in your abilities.

Even at 19, he knows his strengths. He said and we quote “I don’t quit what I have already started. It does not matter how hard the situation is.” which, many would agree is a recipe for success. While knowing your strengths, it’s also important to know your weaknesses. Adarsh’s weakness is that he is too stubborn for his own good. However, it is only by working on ourselves, and overcoming our weaknesses that we eventually succeed. And he is currently focused on bettering himself.
