Vanderpump Rules alum Brittany Cartwright opened up about the relationship struggles she faced before announcing her split from Jax Taylor last month after four years of marriage.

Brittany Cartwright, known for her bubbly persona and Southern charm on Bravo’s hit reality show Vanderpump Rules, recently peeled back the glamorous facade to reveal the inner turmoil she experienced before parting ways with her husband and former co-star, Jax Taylor.

In a candid interview with BravoTV.com published on March 12, Brittany spoke about the challenges she and Jax faced in their marriage, drawing parallels to the struggles encountered by their former castmates, Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval, before their breakup in 2023. Brittany expressed empathy, saying, “I can kind of get how you get into this, like, friendship, roommate-type situation and then you just feel like you are kind of stuck a little bit.” She elaborated further, acknowledging her own moments of doubt: “‘Am I going to lose all this stuff that I’ve built? Am I, you know, going to be OK?'” These questions, she admitted, induced fear and uncertainty, making the situation “very scary, very hard.”

The 35-year-old reality star’s revelations come on the heels of her announcement that she had moved out of their Los Angeles home amid their relationship struggles. On the February 29 episode of their podcast When Reality Hits, Brittany shared, “Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.” She emphasized the importance of focusing on her role as a mother to their 2-year-old son, Cruz, while navigating this challenging period.

Fans of the couple will soon witness the unraveling of their marriage on their upcoming Bravo series, The Valley, which premieres later this month. The show promises an intimate look into the lives of Brittany and Jax, along with fellow Vanderpump Rules alum Kristen Doute, as they navigate the complexities of relationships and daily life in Los Angeles.

Brittany and Jax’s journey as a couple has been a rollercoaster ride since they first met in 2015 during a fateful encounter in Las Vegas. Their relationship blossomed in front of the cameras, culminating in a televised wedding ceremony at a Kentucky Castle in June 2020. The couple’s joy was further amplified with the arrival of their son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, in April 2021.

However, despite their public displays of affection and apparent happiness, cracks began to surface, leading to their decision to take time apart. While their future as a couple remains uncertain, Brittany’s willingness to share her vulnerabilities sheds light on the complexities of marriage and the realities behind the glitz and glamour of reality television.

As Brittany continues to navigate this new chapter in her life, her openness serves as a reminder that relationships, no matter how picture-perfect they may seem, require constant effort and introspection. And while the road ahead may be uncertain, one thing is clear—Brittany Cartwright is determined to prioritize her well-being and that of her son, regardless of the challenges she may face.
