Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s opening weekend box office performance could surpass that of the first Black Panther.
The most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe film, set to open in theatres in November, has been hailed as a potential giant. According to Box Office Pro, Wakanda Forever is projected to earn between $180 and $225 million, surpassing the $202 million milestone established by its 2018 predecessor.
T’Challa’s Legacy and Chadwick Boseman
Given that the first movie was a true success at the box office when it debuted in February 2018, the sequel has been one of the most anticipated movies of 2022, and all indications are that it will succeed. Given that Chadwick Boseman sadly went away from cancer in August 2020, the sequel will be without its star. Even though Boseman’s character is written out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe rather than being recast, the sequel to Black Panther is being seen as a homage to the actor.
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, recently disclosed that he and director Ryan Coogler believed it was “too soon” to replace T’Challa. Feige claimed that Coogler “poured” his sense of loss and anguish into Wakanda Forever, despite the fact that the cast of the movie and many fans worldwide are still mourning the passing of the Black Panther hero. The regard that Coogler has for Boseman is evident in recent remarks made by Lupita Nyong’o, who portrays Nakia in the MCU. The actor said she and other Black Panther sequel cast members had traveled with the director to pay their respects at actor Chadwick Boseman’s burial in South Carolina.
A new description just revealed that Namor, the Sub-Mariner, plays a significant role in the movie, but not as the adversary, giving fans a preview of what Wakanda Forever will offer the MCU. According to the updated description, Namor will inform Wakanda of “a worldwide threat and his frightening plan to fight it,” forcing the Wakandans to unite with friends to “set Wakanda’s nation on a new course.”
Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, is considered to be assuming the role of the Black Panther in order to carry on her slain brother’s legacy. She is T’Challa’s sister. Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, and Danai Gurira are other cast members who will be returning.
