Orphan Black: Echoes, the upcoming spinoff series set in the world of Orphan Black, is scheduled for a 2023 debut on AMC Networks’ digital platform AMC+ and linear nets. Amanda Fix (High School) and Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) are set to star as leads opposite Krysten Ritter.
In Orphan Black: Echoes, a group of four women set out on a quest to discover who they really are while dealing with all the twists and turns that come with having their lives so connected. Along the way, they solve the mystery surrounding their identities and unearth a heartbreaking tale of love and betrayal. Jules, the adopted teen daughter of successful parents, will be portrayed by Fix, a young and rapidly rising talent. Jules is extremely intelligent yet a little reckless, and she is still searching for herself.
Jogia will play Jack, a former army medic and single parent who has devoted his life to raising a daughter, the boyfriend of Ritter’s Lucy. However, Jack soon learns that the lady he loves is hiding an unbelievable secret. The first season of Orphan Black ended in 2017, and has acquired a sizable fan base. Tatiana Maslany won an Emmy for her portrayal of a lady who has seven identical clones scattered throughout Europe and North America. Maslany’s reappearance appears doubtful given that the new series is advertised as being an entirely new story set in the same universe. The co-creators of Orphan Black, Anna Fishko and John Fawcett, will return for the new series, so certain aspects will stay the same.
In addition to co-creating the new show, Fishko will also act as its writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Ritter, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Katie O’Connell Marsh, Nick Nantell, and Kerry Appleyard will work with Fishko and Fawcett to executive produce. Orphan Black: Echoes will debut on AMC in 2023, though a precise date has not yet been made public.
