The cast of Only Murders in the Building now includes Paul Rudd. After appearing as Broadway star Ben Glenroy in the Season 2 finale, the actor will take the lead in the third season of the series. The final episode, which establishes the plot for the third season, had a brief appearance from the actor. Variety has discovered that Rudd has joined the Season 3 cast, contrary to what fans initially believed to be a one-time occurrence.
Only Murder in the Building centres on an odd group of characters, including Charles Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mable Mora (Selena Gomez), who all have a true crime and podcasting addiction. After the terrible death of Arconia Board President Bunny Folger, the three correctly identified her killer as the season’s high point.
Additionally, in the final scene of Season 2, Oliver is seen returning to Broadway in a play alongside prominent performer Ben Glenroy, played by Rudd. Before going on stage, Glenroy and his co-star Charles have some conflict. However, as soon as he steps onto the platform, Glenroy starts to bleed from the mouth and exhibits other symptoms of poisoning before passing away in front of the audience.
At the conclusion of season 2, series co-creator John Hoffmann referred to Rudd’s entry into the franchise as auspicious, saying Glenroy “is someone we clearly want to know more about and see in our future Season 3.” Hoffmann claims Rudd’s role is a definite source of many impending questions and, as always with our show, many twists yet to come, despite the fact that it is unclear whether he will be appearing on a regular, recurrent, or guest basis. The show’s third season was approved in July of last year.
Only Murder in the Building won praise for its comic take on the mystery genre during its two seasons. The show was co-created by Martin and Hoffmann. Along with Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, and Jamie Babbit, the pair also serves as executive producers. The streaming service is now airing the first and second seasons. The release of Season 3 on Hulu is anticipated for sometime in the summer of 2023.
