The eagerly awaited Vikings: Valhalla sequel to MGM’s Vikings debuted on Netflix in early 2022, and there will be more in 2023. Given that season 2 of the programme has already begun filming, here is an updated list of everything we currently know about Vikings: Valhalla season 2 on Netflix.
Michael Hirst’s historical drama Vikings: Valhalla, a Netflix Original, is a prequel to the iconic Vikings History Channel series. Like its predecessor, which had six seasons, this one is made by MGM Productions.
The events of Vikings: Valhalla take place 100 years after the Great Viking army, led by Ragnar Lothbrok’s sons, set sail for England in search of retribution for his death.

Between February 25th and April 3rd, 2022 (the show’s first 37 days on Netflix), the show received 265,550,000 hours of global viewing.

The show was a critical success, with RottenTomatoes rating it at 89 percent (designated as Certified Fresh), although viewer ratings were less favourable. The audience score on RottenTomatoes as of early April 2022 is 54 percent. On IMDb, the show has a far higher rating of 7.2, with episode 8 receiving an 8.1.
What is the status of Vikings: Valhalla season 2 production?
Jeb Stuart revealed that he was “finishing the editing of the last episode of season two” around the time season one was released. That means the show will be finished for about a year before it is released.
Season 3 production is also underway. Netflix confirmed the second and third seasons, stating that filming would begin in Spring 2022. We’ve learnt that they’ll be preparing during April in order to begin filming in May 2022. Jeb Stuart told DigitalSpy that season 3 is “extremely exciting” and that “my Vikings get out of Scandinavia, so we have plenty of amazing shocks.”
When will Vikings: Valhalla season 2 be released?
Beyond a general 2023 release date, Netflix has not confirmed a precise release date for Vikings: Valhalla season 2. However, we may make an educated judgement as to when the second season will be released. With work on the second season wrapping in November 2021, we may expect the season to premiere on Netflix in early 2023, most likely between January and March 2023.
