Marvel’s animated anthology series What If…? has been renewed for Season 3 at Disney+. This announcement is made at today’s Marvel Studios’ Animation panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Clearly, What If…? fans received a welcome surprise. Before the start of Season 2, Marvel announced that the Emmy-nominated series had been renewed for a third season early in 2023. Season 2 has not yet been released, but Season 3 is already rushing our way.
Following the screening, Bryan Andrews, the director of What If?, and AC Bradley, the writer-executive producer, both made the announcement that the series had been renewed for a third season. Along with the screening of the second season’s episodes and the confirmation of the renewal, the panel witnessed the debut of a brand-new trailer for What If…? Season 2. Several well-known characters, like T’challa, Thanos, Valkyrie, and Korg, could be seen in the second video.
We were all introduced to the vast possibilities, detours, and turns that the MCU’s multiverse has to offer in Season 1 of What If…? Viewers are led across this immensity of time by The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright), who serves as their guide. The Watcher, who had sworn not to interfere with the unfolding of events, would be compelled to break his promise and assemble heroes from all over the universe to become the “Guardians of the Multiverse” in order to face the shared foe, Infinity Ultron.
“What If…” Season 2 continues the voyage through the vast multiverse with The Watcher serving as our guide while presenting both fresh and recognisable characters from around the MCU. With a vocal cast that features a plethora of luminaries who reprise their legendary roles, the animated series questions, revisits, and alters great Marvel Cinematic events.
Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Michael B. Jordan, Jeremy Renner, Michael Douglas, Stanley Tucci, Benedict Cumberbatch, Hayley Atwell, Paul Rudd, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Karen Gillan, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, and Toby Jones are just a few of the actors who have voiced animated characters in the animated series.
