FX’s The Old Man starring Jeff Bridges renewed for Season 2

The Old Man

The Old Man, a Jeff Bridges-starring sitcom on FX, has been renewed for a second season. This announcement is a no-brainer given the series’ rapid growth in popularity and favourable reviews. Bridges plays Dan Chase, a former CIA agent who is quickly drawn back into the life he tried to leave behind, in this thriller.

The series debut on June 16 reportedly attracted a massive amount of viewers, according to FX. This is really astounding, especially in light of how scripted cable premieres are being overshadowed by streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. The Old Man also attracted strong watching figures over a three-day period, making the first episode the most watched cable premiere since the year 2021.

The Old Man is a show you can watch just to get to see acclaimed performers chew on every line of language they get, further demonstrating that it is one of the greatest new series out there. The power of its supporting ensemble adds to the film’s already strong base of an ageing agent played by legendary actor Jeff Bridges. This can be seen in the first two episodes, as John Lithgow and Jeff Bridges square off.

The COVID-19 epidemic first caused issues when the show was two-thirds of the way through production. Bridges received a lymphoma diagnosis just before autumn 2020 production was set to get back up. Thankfully, his cancer was in remission as of September, and it was possible to resume production as of February. Scenes that Bridges’ character did not appear in were captured while he was receiving medical treatment.

Along with Amy Brenneman, John Lithgow, Alia Shawkat, E.J. Bonilla, and Gbenga Akinnagbe, The Old Man also stars these actors. The series is based on Thomas Perry’s 2017 book of the same name, which was published. The first two episodes were directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car, Spider-Man: No Way Home), while all seven episodes were written by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine.
