A Game of Thrones spinoff series, which would bring several iconic characters back to TV screens, is reportedly in the early stages of development. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the HBO is creating a brand-new sequel series focused on the persona of Jon Snow. On the hugely popular fantasy series, based on the novels by George R.R. Martin, star Kit Harington is set to reprise the role, which he portrayed for eight seasons.

Because of the follow-up programme, HBO and HBO Max now have at least seven Game of Thrones spinoffs in various stages of development. The first to air will be House of the Dragon, a prequel series with an August 21 release date that details the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war. Other series in development include The Tales of Dunk and Egg from creator Steve Conrad, The Sea Snake from creator Bruno Heller, and Ten Thousand Ships from creator Amanda Segel. While one live-action prequel was denied a series order after a pilot was filmed, three animated programmes are also in development.

Throughout the duration of the series, Jon Snow was a popular favourite. He became one of the legitimate heirs to the Iron Throne when it was revealed in the Season 7 finale that his real name is Aegon Targaryen. However, the season finale featured Jon Snow fleeing Castle Black and continuing on with his wildling friends beyond the Wall.

At the conclusion of the fifth season, Jon Snow was eliminated, but Melisandre, the Red Witch, brought him back to life in the sixth. To the point where he was prevented from cutting his long hair in order to maintain continuity for Game of Thrones, Harington has discussed the physical and mental difficulties of playing the role, who gained popularity during the show’s eight-season run.

In addition to playing a character in How to Train Your Dragon 2 and the critically panned drama The Life & Death of John F. Donovan, actor Kit Harington also participated in the disastrous Pompeii film directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. However, Harington’s first significant part after Game of Thrones was in the Marvel Cinematic Universe production Eternals. Although the movie was a financial failure and received a dismal critical reception, it undoubtedly opened the door for him to reprise his role as the Black Knight.

The only things in store for Harington in the future may be numerous seasons and Marvel films as Jon Snow. However, that is hardly a cause for complaint. After all, the programme gave him two Emmy nominations and served as Cupid for him and his wife Rose Leslie. In regards to Game of Thrones, one character-focused sequel may lead to several character-focused sequels. There is no reason why HBO couldn’t use streaming in the same way as Marvel and Lucasfilm did.
