In a new trailer for the rest of the CW show’s eighth season, fans of The Flash get a new glimpse at what Team Flash and Central City will have to cope with for the rest of the season. The clip, which shows The Flash (Grant Gustin) speeding through Central City with the gold boots given to him by Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight), teases a new, huge adventure for the speedster unlike any we’ve seen before.
Frost (Danielle Panabaker) is also seen with Caitlin Snow’s mother, Dr. Tannhauser, in the trailer. Frost and Caitlin used to share the same body, but during the seventh season, they split up into two different persons, and when Tannhauser asks Frost whether it’s normal for her to be a hero, she responds with “I’m not sure what to say. It’s a way of life.” After that, Barry gives a speech about how Team Flash is a family and that anyone who tries to harm a member of their family will be stopped. The trailer also shows Barry and Iris West-Allen’s (Candice Patton) future daughter Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy) comforting Barry about how everyone loses faith in themselves sometimes. Nora, along with her brother Bart (Jordan Fisher) have made multiple visits to the past to team up with the Flash as XS and Impulse. The trailer concludes with Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) telling Barry to trust himself and run into the unknown.
The eighth season of The Flash premiered on November 16th. The series was extended for a ninth season last month, giving it The CW’s Arrowverse’s longest-running series, surpassing Arrow, which ended after eight seasons. After Smallville, which lasted for ten seasons from 2001 to 2011, it will be the network’s second-longest running series based on a DC Comics character with the ninth season.
The Flash and Superman & Lois are the only Arrowverse shows that have been confirmed to return next year, with fans eagerly awaiting news on Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman’s futures. Despite the fact that the show will return next year, the series will come to an end this season. “At seasons 6, 7, and 8, we’re nearing the end of a three-year master plan that I’ve had with the show,” showrunner Eric Wallce previously told Entertainment Weekly.
The Flash currently airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW. In the meantime, check out the new trailer for Season 8 below:
