Pieces of Her, starring Toni Collette, is one of the early highlights in Netflix’s TV lineup for 2022. The series isn’t necessarily ripe for a second season because it wraps up nicely and the source material doesn’t have much more to offer, but could it come back? We assess the show’s chances and assess how well it performed.
Charlotte Stoudt, who is best known for her work on Homeland and Fosse/Verdon, created the crime drama series. Pieces of Her begins with a normal mother and daughter going to the mall on a lovely Saturday afternoon, but things quickly escalate when a shocking event alters their lives forever.
How well did Netflix’s Pieces of Her do?
Perhaps the best indicator is Netflix’s top ten hourly data. Netflix releases data for the previous week’s most-watched titles in four categories every week. Pieces of Her spent five weeks in the top ten before dropping out.
One thing to note is that the show saw a significant boost from weeks 1 to 2, but then began to plummet after week 3.
Week Period Hours Viewed(M)
February 27th, 2022 to March 6th, 2022 53,680,000

Based on how many points it received in the Netflix Top 10s as of April 27th, the show is the 10th most-watched Netflix title of 2022. It is ranked ninth, behind The Witcher, Yo soy Betty la fea, and Business Proposal.
According to their findings, 55 percent of viewers who started the show made it to the end. This compares favourably to Archive 81, which was cancelled after only one season and only about 35% of viewers made it to the final episode.
“In general,” according to Digital I “if less than 50% of starters make it to the end, the show is cancelled.”
Finally, Nielsen Top 10 data can provide insight into how well the show is doing in the United States.

What to Expect from Season 2 of Pieces of Her on Netflix
Pieces of Her has a few loose ends to tie up and some unanswered questions heading into a possible second season.
Following the revelations in the final episode that Jane, rather than Nick, was the mastermind behind the murder of her own father, the rest of the season is likely to pick up.
As a result, as DigitalSpy points out, the fallout between Jane and her brother Jasper will almost certainly be explored in any second season.
According to The Cinemaholic, the mother and daughter will likely team up “in a formidable team” against Jasper, who promised to kill Laura alongside Paula.
Is Pieces of Her getting a second season on Netflix?
You might be wondering if Pieces of Her is part of a limited series. It isn’t marked as such on Netflix’s app, but given the ending, it could go either way. The show is listed in the drama section of Netflix’s FYC page (a site for Emmy voters), implying that it is not a limited series because it is listed separately.
As you may be aware, Netflix usually waits 1-3 months to renew its shows, so we should know more about Pieces of Her’s future by the summer of 2022.
