On 25th April, when star Johnny Depp could not remeber his own films and the people inside the courtroom burst into laughter, the presiding judge in the case named Penney Azcarate told that order must be maintained during the proceedings otherwise attendees will be kicked out. Following his cross examination, Johnny Depp’s lawyers did their own questioning during which he was asked to name his other film projects and contracts. Depp swiftly listed “Alice In Wonderland” but was having difficulty in remembering his other movie franchises. Soon, he joked that he doesn’t watch his own movies.

While on the stand, the Pirates of the Caribbean star said, “I’m so pathetic when it comes to knowing what movies I’ve done. I’m sorry. I just, I don’t watch them. I feel better not watching them. What was the question again?” Soon the people in the courtroom laughed loudly which resulted in judge Azcarate telling, “Order in the court or I will have you removed. Understood? Thank you.” Johnny Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against his former spouse Amber Heard in the wake of an article she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018. In the piece, she opened up about being a victim of domestic violence, however, she never addressed Johnny Depp. The actor filed the fifty million dollars lawsuit in March, 2019.

Earlier, Depp lost his much-talked about lawsuit against a British tabloid called “The Sun”, the publication had called him a “wife-beater”. After which he resigned from his role in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise. During the legal proceedings, Amber Heard had to testify in order to coroborate The Sun’s remarks and the court decided in favor of it, observing that the claims are “substantially true”. The “The Tourist” star appealed the verdict but in March last year, a superior court refused to overrule the subordinate court’s order. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp met for the first time on the set of their movie “The Rum Diary” and after dating got married in 2015. However, in 2016, Amber Heard filed for a restraining order against him accusing him of abuse. Eventually, around August, 2016, the couple’s divorce was finalized.

Before the trial began, judge Azcarate had ordered that both Johnny and the “Never Back Down” actress can “pose for pictures or sign autographs in the Courthouse or on Courthouse grounds otherwise they will be found guilty of contempt of court and be “punished accordingly”. The judge also observed, there “will be no overnight camping on Courthouse grounds and all spectators are expected to dress in a manner consistent with the decorum of a judicial proceeding. Audible comments of any kind during the court proceedings or provocative or uncivil behavior within the courtroom will not be tolerated.”
