Roar: Apple’s upcoming anthology series combining comedy and feminism with drama

Apple TV+ is yet again returning with an anthology series, Roar, from Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, the creator of GLOW. The series was announced back in 2018. Apple TV+ released all the episodes on April 15, 2022. The series promises eight self-standing stories about the experience of women. In March 2021, Apple TV+ announced that the show would consist of eight 30-minute episodes, each told from the viewpoint of a female character.

From romance, and love to hate and murder, the stories depict every possible aspect of a women’s life. Based on the 2018 short story collection of the same name by Cecelia Ahern, the storyline conveys how women navigate through others’ perceptions of them as well as their own. Bringing to light what it means to be a woman, these stories are known as “darkly comic feminist fables”.

Each story is different from one another and stars different actors and characters. The title of the eight stories are as follows: “The Woman Who Solved Her Own Murder”, “The Woman Who Was Fed by a Duck”, “The Woman Who Disappeared”, “The Woman Who Returned Her Husband”, “The Woman Who Found Bite Marks on Her Skin”, “The Girl Who Loved Horses”, and “The Woman Who Ate Photographs”. Each story is about women who either feel unheard or unseen. ” The Women who were Kept on a shelf portrays Betty Gilpin as a former model. Alison Brie stars in ‘The Woman Who Solved her Own Murder’, playing the ghost of a murder victim who must hear all the premise uh the rude detectives make about her life as they solve the crime.

The star cast of the show includes Betty Gilpin, Alison Brie, Cynthia Erivo, Fivel Stewart, Meera Syal, Merritt Wever, Issa Rae, and Nicole Kidman.
