Actor Will Smith on Sunday, March 27 twitched a controversy at the 94th Academy Awards,2022 when he went up to the stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock after Rock poke fun at his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. Chris said, “Jada I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2’, can’t wait to see it.” Jada seemed unhappy with Chris’s joke as she has earlier mentioned her alopecia condition and its consequences. Although, Will apologized to the academy for the whole thing as he came to the stage to receive his Best Actor Award.

Will Smith accepted that the whole incident was extremely inappropriate and he shouldn’t have reacted the way he did. He said that jokes are normal in his line and a part of his job but a joke about his wife’s condition was too much for him to bear and thus he reacted emotionally. Smith also gave an apology to the academy for his behavior. According to the source Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith didn’t want him to defend her against the whole thing as she is not the woman who needs protection. She didn’t want Smith to get in any type of squabble for her. Jada was definitely hurt by Rock’s insensitive comment on her medical condition but she didn’t want anyone to defend her. She’s a strong woman and can take care of herself. Taking to her Instagram she shared a poster in which it is written, ” This is a season for Healing and I’m here for it.”

Meanwhile, Smith apologized publicly to Chris in an Instagram message that reads, ” I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violation in a world of love and kindness.” He also gives his resignation from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
