Netflix’s popular Regency-era period drama, Bridgerton’s season 2 was released earlier this week on March 25. The series has been one of the most anticipated series to come up with another season on Netflix. The show is based on Julia Quinn’s popular novels and was released back in December 2020. Bridgerton’s season 2 focused on the eldest son, Viscount Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) of the Bridgerton clan, and his quest to find love. Season 2 has introduced some new characters in the show, The Sharma Family with sisters Edwina and Kate Sharma (played by Charithra Chandran and Simone Ashley), who have come to England to stay with Lady Danbury. Anthony who is desperate to get settled this season immediately found Edwina a suitable match for himself. However his brief encounter with Lady Kate as a stranger attracted him towards her but learning from his experiences, he was hellbent on not falling in love again. A love triangle between Anthony, Edwina, and Kate is the main highlight of the season.
On Tuesday, at a dinner celebrating South Asian culture hosted by Netflix in Los Angeles, Simone Ashley revealed that the show will return for yet another season. She said, “We’re going to be back! Kate and Anthony are just getting started.” She also mentioned, “We have the amazing Jess Brownell who is taking the lead as showrunner in Season 3. In Season 2, there was a lot of push and pull between Kate and Anthony, there were complications with the family, and then they find each other towards the end.” She added, “I think everything is just starting. I’d like to see Kate just let go a bit more and play more in Season 3 and kind of swim in that circle of love together. I think they both deserve it.” She also said that she is proud of how season 2 has wrapped up with a cliffhanger. “It’s more like three love stories are going on at once,” she added. She continued, “It’s about the love story between the sisters, one between Kate and Anthony, and the love story of the family. The Viscount and the Diamond are doing it all for their families and their duty.”
