Amy Wang joins as a new writer in “Crazy Rich Asians 2”

The young and upcoming writer Amy Wang is set to replace the author’s Adele Lim and Peter Chiarelli in the movie Crazy Rich Asians. As reported by the deadline the writer Adele and Peter were involved in a controversy related to pay disparity this comes after the release and success of the first film.

The movie made a grossing $238 million in the box office worldwide which made it the most successful rom-com of the decade gone by. The movie was directed by Jon M. Chu .The movie was based on the novel Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan which was published in 2013, and the sequels are based on the follow up by Kwan’s Crazy Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems. This is the first major update that has surfaced about the sequel.

One of the key highlights of the movie was it all Asian star cast which included Constance Wu as a New York University Economics Professor Rachel Chu, and Henry Golding as her super-rich Singaporean boyfriend Nick Young, the story revolves around how Rachel went to a wedding, with her boyfriend, Nick and met his family, who showed their disapproval towards her.

The Hollywood Reporter, in 2019 reported that Lim has decided to leave the sequel citing a pay disparity. She was offered $ 110,000 to work on the sequel while her opposite number Chiarelli was offered an amount anywhere in between $800,000 to $1 million.

The director of the film Jon.M.chu on Twitter wrote that it is frustrating to not be able to bring the whole gang back.Chu showed support to Lim and said: “that she was able to stand up for her measure of worth and walk away when she felt like she was being undervalued.”
