Olivia Wilde opened up about her upcoming movie called “Don’t Worry Darling” which stars her boyfriend Harry Styles. On 26th April, Olivia Wilde released the full-length trailer of Don’t Worry Darling at the CinemaCon event, happening in Las Vegas, telling that her new project is “ambitious” and the performance of Harry Styles is “truly a revelation”. The “House” actress also joked about her boyfriend Harry Styles calling him “an up-and-coming actor with no other career that I’m aware of.”
Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller based on a homemaker during the 1950s who resides in a utopian experimental society and uncovers that her husband’s company is hiding distressing things. Florence Pugh, known for Little Women (2019), plays the role of housewife and Harry Styles is portraying her spouse. Olivia Wilde cited historic movies such as Inception, The Truman Show and The Matrix which led her to direct Don’t Worry Darling. The “Love The Coopers” actor called these films “movies that push the boundaries of our imagination”.
Wilde asked the audience at the CinemaCon, “I want you to imagine a life where you have everything you could want. Not just material things….but true love and friendship. What would it take for you to give up that perfect life? Are you willing to dismantle the system that’s designed to serve the world.” Olivia made her directorial debut in 2019 with “Booksmart”, yesterday she expressed that she decided to “aim for the moon” when got the opportunity to direct again.
Nick Kroll who starred in Kroll Show, Gemma Chan who appeared in Crazy Rich Asians and Chris Pine of Star Trek, will also appear in Don’t Worry Darling. Warner Bros Pictures shared a tweet which is a picture in which the lead actors Harry Styles and Florence Pugh can be seen cuddling in bed. In September, 2021, Wilde shared a teaser of the movie on her Instagram handle which shows the two characters kissing. The teaser gives a glance of what it is about, featuring Florence being served wine, her intimacy with Harry and a person who head is wrapped in plastic.
Don’t Worry Darling will release on 23rd September this year.
