According to a recent post on Timothée Chalamet’s Instagram page, Dune: Part Two filming is finally completed, which is good news for fans of the classic science fiction world. The caption on the picture says, “DUNE 2 WRAPPED (with desert dad!!),” and it shows the actor standing next to his father against a background of the desert.
While Chalamet’s Instagram post didn’t reveal any new details about the sequel, it does indicate that post-production will begin for the picture and that it will continue to include the distinctive desert landscape that fans of the original film fell in love with. Next November’s planned sequel, which will act as a direct continuation of the first movie, will be based on the second half of Frank Herbert’s original 1965 novel. Fans still have plenty of time to create anticipation because the film won’t be out for another year and a half.
The Dune sequel directed by Denis Villeneuve started filming in July of this year, and the scenes were shot in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Italy. Actors including Florence Pugh, Lea Seydoux, Christopher Walken, Austin Butler, and Sheila Yacoub will be added to the sequel. Along with Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgard, Javier Bardem, and Stephen McKinley Henderson, they were among the returning cast members.
A critical and commercial triumph, The First Dune appeared in cinemas and on HBO Max in 2021. Many praised the picture for its fidelity to the original work as well as its epic sense of scale. The movie would go on to win several awards, including five BAFTAs and six Academy Awards. Along with the eventual publication of its much-awaited sequel, Dune: The Sisterhood, a television spinoff that will focus on Bene Gesserit’s beginnings, is also in the works. Along with many more actors, the series will feature Indira Varma, Shirley Henderson, and Emily Watson. The next several years will be filled with projects based on Herbert’s groundbreaking universe, so fans will have a lot to look forward to.
Chalamet’s career is still progressing with Bones and All’s the latest release. The actor will also play the title role in Wonka, a film directed by Paul King (Paddington) outside of the Dune world. The musical movie is slated to make its cinematic premiere on December 15, 2023.
On November 3, 2023, Dune: Part Two will be shown for the first time only in cinemas. See the first movie’s official trailer down below.
