As soon as it was released, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse quickly gained popularity and won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Two sequels were swiftly rushed into production by Sony Pictures Animation, two movies that will add more Spidey-family characters to the animated canon. In fact, according to a recent online rumor, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the movie’s direct sequel would feature at least two eerily familiar faces.
According to recent reports from The Cosmic Circus, Tom Holland’s portrayal of the web-slinger will appear in the movie in some capacity. Although it is unknown if Holland will provide the character’s voice, it is reported that the surface will be the same one from the Marvel Studios trilogy. The same rumor also states that Spider-Man from the acclaimed PlayStation series will also be present.
Will Tom Holland show up in the next installment of Into the Spider-Verse?
Sony has not yet confirmed Holland’s possible attendance. The actor had indicated an interest in being a part of the franchise and even revealed, when on the press tour for Spider-Man: No Way Home, that veteran Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal had asked him to join the cast of one of the sequels. Holland earlier told SYFY WIRE that “[Producer] Amy [Pascal] actually asked me on the set of [Spider-Man: No Way Home] and no one has gotten back to me.” “I want to be there. Yes, I adore those films.”
