The new Hindi trailer for 1899, the highly anticipated new mystery horror series from the creators of Dark, has been released by Netflix India. From the creators of the German science fiction thriller television series Dark, which was mentally draining as well as captivating and became incredibly popular on Netflix by the conclusion of season 3, Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese team up once more for another big period, gritty mystery drama – 1899. Dark, Netflix’s first German original series, was always going to be a difficult act for its creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar to follow.
The co-creator and Netflix announced a new project for Netflix under their overall arrangement at the streaming service in November 2018, during the European migrant crisis, while working on Dark, and later confirmed during a Netflix press conference. Instagram user Baran bo Odar disclosed that Friese had finished penning the episode’s pilot screenplay. In the story of 1899, European nationalities travel to New York in search of a better life on a different continent. When the ship’s captain receives a strange letter from the Prometheus, a purportedly abandoned ship, their voyage is derailed. Four months have passed since it vanished.
The captain chooses to deviate from the promise made to the passengers to drop them off in New York in seven days. Passengers from all across Europe, including Poland, France, Germany, Spain, and England, struggle to communicate with one another, resulting in cultural conflict in the aftermath of inexplicable events aboard the ship. It leads to the discovery of a web of secrets unique to the travellers.
The cast includes Miguel Bernardeau from Elite and Lucas Lynggaard Tnnesen from The Rain. Other European actors include Miguel Bernardeau from Spain, Mathilde Ollivier from France, Rosalie Craig from England, Maciej Musial from Poland, and Jonas Bloquet from Belgium. Gabby Wong, Fflyn Edwards, Yann Gael, José Pimento, Martin Greis-Rosenthal, Anton Lesser, Maria Erwolter, and Isabella Wei round out the cast.
