Indian Life Insurance (LIC) announced early this week that it would abide by legal action against illegal organizations that use its logo on the media platform without any legal license or authorisation.
To be precise, LIC in its legal statements, additionally urged the public not to fall for such organizations’ that proclaim to violate their logo on social media platforms majorly Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and the rest where the audience communicates or gathers.
Hence speaking about the same, the officials commented on the matter “It has also come to our notice that certain unscrupulous service providers and agents have created websites and Apps whereby they are attempting to provide various services such as ‘Insurance and Insurance Advisory Services’ to customers using our trademarks/service marks which are deceptively similar to our mark…”
Besides, it is further noted that some specific duplicating software and application providers have created software and applications that access or allow others to access LIC’s portal system. Well, how? Yes, it is possible if the application providers have access to data, and to no surprise, it is all unauthorized. Thus, such software and application providers make it possible for them to be prosecuted by law.
“Under the fact and circumstances, customers, members of public and policyholders are requested to bring to the notice of us such wrongful and/or unauthorised and/or infringing use of our service marks on social media or any other form… enable us to take appropriate legal proceedings, both civil and criminal, to curb such infringing activities,” it stated.
In addition, an authorized announcement was made for the general public in activities relating to the case, “that the general public please note that all information related to our products can be found on our website, and the company does not make any false or misleading information that such criminals may obtain on such digital and social media platforms.”
