Guess what? John Mayer seems to be throwing some shade at Taylor Swift’s fans!

In the midst of all the drama, he decided to drop a bomb at midnight on Friday. The 33-year-old musician released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), a re-recording of Taylor’s 2010 album. Now, you might remember that Taylor had a song called “Dear John” on that album, which fans have long believed was about her messy breakup with the 45-year-old “Free Fallin'” singer.

But here’s where things get interesting. On the same night, Taylor unleashed her album, John couldn’t resist getting a little cryptic. He hopped on Instagram and shared a pic from his Thursday night show with Dead & Company in Boulder, Colo. And what caught everyone’s attention? The lights in the sky spelled out “Please Be Kind.”

And let’s not forget, just before Taylor performed “Dear John” at one of her recent Eras Tour concerts, she shared a message with her devoted fans.

She expressed her desire for kindness and gentleness to prevail in our online interactions. With a touch of sass, she emphasized her age, stating that at 33, she couldn’t care less about anything that occurred when she was 19, except for the songs she penned. Swift made it clear that her new album isn’t meant to trigger fans into defending her on the internet against individuals they believe she wrote songs about ages ago.

It’s like they’re playing a game of musical chess, making moves and counter moves.

Who will come out on top in this pop music battle? Time will tell!
