Dave Grohl, frontman of the Foo Fighters, made a surprising and candid confession on social media, revealing that he has fathered a child outside of his marriage. In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, the 55-year-old rock icon admitted to having an affair and acknowledged the impact this has had on his relationship with his wife, Jordyn Blum, and their three children.

“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” Grohl wrote. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”

Grohl and Blum, who have been married since 2003, share three daughters: Violet Maye, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10. In his heartfelt statement, Grohl expressed a desire to move forward as a family, asking for privacy and understanding for the sake of all his children. “We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together,” he added.

Grohl and Blum first met in 2001 at the Sunset Marquis Whiskey Bar in Los Angeles, a moment Grohl has reflected on with humor in past interviews. In a 2017 interview with Q Magazine, he recalled how he drunkenly referred to her as his “future ex-wife” that night, which led her to scribble her number on a napkin, signed “Jordyn, your future ex-wife.” Their romance, however, didn’t immediately take off. Grohl admitted to Elle magazine that he stopped calling after a few dates because he didn’t feel ready for a serious relationship at the time.

This recent revelation marks a difficult chapter in the couple’s nearly 20-year marriage. While the announcement was met with shock, many fans have voiced their support for Grohl and his family during this challenging time as they work to heal.
