Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore, recently faced criticism from some fans, whom she referred to as “internet bros,” for postponing four concerts due to her health issues. Williams took to Instagram Stories to respond to these trolls and defend her decision to prioritize her well-being.

In one screenshot, a Twitter user compared Williams to musicians like James Hetfield and Bruce Dickinson, suggesting that they manage to perform when they’re unwell, implying that Williams should have done the same. Williams fired back, saying, “Neither James NOR Bruce are gonna suck your d— for this, LOVE.” Another tweet pointed out how Dave Grohl performed even after breaking his leg, to which Williams explained that her situation was different as she had a lung infection, which affected her ability to sing for extended periods.

Williams also addressed the broader issue of facing criticism from “internet bros” throughout her career, noting that she has been under scrutiny by such individuals since 2005. She emphasized that many bands from various genres, including metal and punk, support her and treat her with respect. She also asserted that these bands do not endorse the toxic and misogynistic “incel ass lifestyle” that some trolls may espouse.

In a separate Instagram Story, Williams provided fans with updates on rescheduling the postponed shows and clarified that the band’s illness was not due to food poisoning. She shared that she had been feeling unwell since Houston, but adrenaline allowed her to continue performing until her body gave out in Los Angeles.

As a 34-year-old artist, Williams acknowledged that touring is different now compared to when she was 16, as she has established connections and responsibilities outside of music. Despite the challenges, she remains grateful for her life at home, including her community, family, and pets.

Ultimately, Williams stands by her decision to prioritize her health and well-being, emphasizing that her fans’ understanding, and support mean a great deal to her.
