Legendary musician Bruce Springsteen has announced the postponement of all his scheduled tour dates for the month of September 2023. The decision comes as a result of Springsteen’s health condition, specifically peptic ulcer disease, which has led doctors to recommend that he take a break for treatment.
A statement shared on Springsteen’s social media accounts explained the situation: “Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September 2023, beginning with tomorrow’s show scheduled for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, NY. Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease, and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows.”

The postponements follow the cancellation of two shows in Philadelphia on August 16 and 18 due to an undisclosed illness at the time. These Philadelphia shows were rescheduled to August 21 and 23, 2024, indicating that Springsteen had been dealing with health issues for some time.
In his message to fans, Springsteen expressed his disappointment at having to postpone the shows and apologized to his fans, especially those in Philadelphia. He promised to make it up to them, saying, “First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon.” The message was signed with “Love and God bless all, Bruce.”
Springsteen’s tour had resumed earlier this year and featured marathon performances lasting up to three hours. His most recent shows took place at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium from August 30 to September 3, marking his return to the stage after an eight-month hiatus following what was supposed to be the tour finale.
Fortunately, Springsteen will have a substantial amount of time to recover. His touring schedule already included a month-long break in October, with the next scheduled date being on November 3 in Vancouver, BC. The tour will continue through Canada and the west coast, concluding in San Francisco on December 12.
