Amanda Peet has joined the cast of Paramount+’s Fatal Attraction series, the studio announced on Wednesday. Peet joins Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson, who were already revealed. Beth Gallagher, played by Anne Archer in the 1987 film, will now be played by Peet.

Alex (Caplan) terrorises Beth’s family after her husband, Dan (Jackson), has an affair with her. The 1987 film was a box office success, earning Archer, Glenn Close as Alex, director Adrian Lyne, and Best Picture nominations. Alex and Dan’s elevator confrontation, Alex cooking the family pet bunny, and Alex snatching Dan and Beth’s daughter for a roller coaster trip are all iconic scenes.

The series is advertised as a “deep dive” reworking of the film that would look at fatal attraction, marriage, and betrayal through the lenses of modern attitudes toward strong women, personality disorders, and coercive control. The series’ creator, showrunner, and executive producer is Alexandra Cunningham. Kevin J. Hynes will executive produce as well as co-write the story alongside Cunningham.

Amblin Television’s executive producers are Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. Silver Tree will produce and direct the film. The film will be produced by Paramount Television Studios.“Fatal Attraction” was based on James Dearden’s short film “Diversion,” for which he also created the screenplay. When it was released in 1987, the film was a box office triumph, generating over $320 million worldwide.

Peet’s most recent project was the Netflix drama “The Chair,” which starred Sandra Oh. Her television credits include “Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story,” “Brockmire,” “Togetherness,” and “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.” “The Whole Nine Yards” and its sequel, “Something’s Gotta Give,” as well as “Syriana,” are among her feature film debuts. Gersh, Entertainment 360, and attorney Gretchen Rush represent her.
