Zack Synder’s next big project for Netflix, “Rebel Moon” has begun filming says the director. Rebel Moon is a sci-fi movie coming on Netflix and Zack Snyder shared the first look of the film. Djimon Hounsou appears in full costume as well as a sneak peek of the movie’s set.
In Snyder’s official Twitter account, the announcement and photos were accompanied by the caption, “Day 1 #RebelMoon. It’s here.” In the first image in the collection, Hounsou can be seen dressed in highly detailed armor as General Titus, and his face is covered with dirt, grime, and wounds. There are also some photos of what appears to be a cargo bay for a ship in the movie. In Rebel Moon, a peaceful colony is attacked by the armies of Belisarius, a dictator at the edge of space. Attempting to get assistance in defending Kora’s home, colonists send her to neighboring planets, played by Sofia Boutella.
Almost a decade ago, Synder pitched the idea for Rebel Moon, a Star Wars film that would get darker than previous films in the iconic series. The project was never developed, but following the success of Snyder’s Army of the Dead movie on Netflix, a first-look deal was made between The Stone Quarry and Netflix. The first project to come out of this deal is Rebel Moon. Having gone through some revisions, Snyder’s pitch for a story in a galaxy far, far away has developed into something new which he hopes will become a franchise.
The sci-fi epic Rebel Moon has entered production, but there is no date or timeframe for its release.
