Jason Blum Says Purge 6 Isn’t Moving Forward Officially

Jason Blum

In a new statement from maker Jason Blum, he affirmed that a Purge 6 isn’t officially moving forward yet. The series took off in 2013 with the release of The Purge, which followed the bloody lawlessness of a dystopian culture where for one evening of the year, all wrongdoing is legal. Delivered by Blum’s own Blumhouse Productions and coordinated by James DeMonaco, it was a massive hit amongst thrill ride fanatics, scoring $89.3 million at the global film industry. Since then, at that point, The Purge has developed into an effective ghastliness franchise, with 4 additional films and a brief TV series created in the years following the original movie.

While speaking with ComicBook, Blum revealed that The Purge 6 isn’t officially moving forward—yet. The franchise maker claimed he doesn’t have a final answer in regards to whether the film will be made, yet said “it’s certainly a chance.” He added that DeMonaco already has a content prepared, and that “it would certainly be enjoyable to do another one.” Blum’s full statement can be read underneath:

“I don’t have a more strong answer, yet I would say it’s certainly a chance. We’re not without a doubt doing it, yet we’re not without a doubt not doing it, by the same token. We simply haven’t sorted it out yet. I do know that [DeMonaco] has a content. I have not read it yet, yet I do know James has composed a content and it would certainly be amusing to do another one.”

As of now, the eventual fate of The Purge franchise remains in an in-between state. While it appears to be probable that a 6th Purge film will happen as expected in the upcoming years, nothing has been affirmed, which may be largely due in part to the rough pandemic-era film industry. Notwithstanding, not all expectation is lost for fans of The Purge. While DeMonaco was promoting The Forever Purge, he noted that a 6th film would be heavily reliant upon interest from audiences. Perhaps, if enough fans of the slasher-thrill ride franchise vocalize their help for a Purge 6, the story could actually have the option to continue.
