Ashley Park, who is known for her role in Emily in Paris, recently shared personal details about her courageous struggle with cancer when she was a teen. Her cancer was only discovered when she was 15 years old. She made it plain that she was going after all of her aspirations, revealing her drive and resolve in the process. She stated that she did not want cancer to define her. She siad, “I didn’t want it to define me.”

Ashley Park, then 15 years old, was identified as having the blood and bone marrow malignancy acute myeloid leukaemia. She thought back on the difficult moments she had to endure while receiving chemotherapy in the hospital for almost a year. She also revealed that she actively maintains a plant-based diet focused on balanced nutrition due to her battle with illness and that beating cancer was “an intense and formative experience” for her.

In an interview with Shape Magazine, Ashley Park talked openly about her experience growing up with cancer and how it helped her on her path to acting. She said, “Once cancer physically left my body, I made it my mission to not let it affect my life.” Park added, “People were so worried about me, and I became the person that was like, ‘I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. I am going to go after what I want and just do it.'”

Being an actress, as well as sustaining her when she performs on screen and while she is on Broadway, requires Park to maintain her physical fitness and take care of her body. “When you’re performing so much, you realize that your body is your vessel — it’s your instrument,” Park said. “So, you have to treat it as such and really take care of it.” “I am highly anemic because of what I went through with my cancer,” Park explained. “So, I do like a nice steak every once in a while.”

Park’s interview with Shape comes shortly before the premiere of the new season of Emily in Paris, Park spoke with Shape. On December 21, Netflix will launch the third season of Emily in Paris.
