Cynthia Erivo to Star in Apple TV+ psychological thriller ‘Raising Wild’

Cynthia Erivo will play the lead in Apple TV+’s upcoming thriller series Raising Wild according to Deadline. The show, which will be produced by MGM and Identity Media, will have Renée Zellweger on board as an executive producer.

Erivo will play a neuropsychologist who eventually loses her job after becoming wanted for fraud and kidnapping, though very little about the upcoming series has been made public. She will start to wonder whether she is a victim of a sinister plot or a real threat to society as the series goes on. Raising Wild has a compelling premise that could draw viewers in when it eventually makes its streaming debut.

Along with series creator Amber Alexander, Damian Kindler, who previously worked on the popular television show American Gods, will serve as showrunner and executive produce the project. Erivo will executive produce Raising Wild alongside Solome Williams, Stacey Levin, Steve Stark, Carmella Casinelli, and Anthony Mastromauro in addition to acting in the series. As production ramps up, more details about the series, including upcoming casting calls and filming schedules, will probably become available.

Erivo previously won praise for her performance as the titular real-life person in the film Harriet, for which she received two Academy Award nominations one for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role and the other for Best Original Song. She recently worked with Apple TV+ with her appearance in Roar, an anthology television series, and earlier this year she starred as the Blue Fairy in Disney’s live-action Pinocchio remake, which made its debut on Disney+.
