The Last of Us, an upcoming HBO video game adaption series, now has a premiere date.

According to the network, fans will embark on the post-apocalyptic odyssey with Joel and Ellie early the following year, in January 2023.

The highly anticipated television show is based on the critically acclaimed video game by Naughty Dog that has a sizable fan base.

The Chernobyl co-writer Craig Mazin and the director of the original games, Neil Druckmann, appear to have been quite loyal to the source material based on the trailer.

In the first few images from the survival drama, Pedro Pascal, a Game of Thrones alum, and Bella Ramsey both look stunning as Joel and Ellie.

In the upcoming television series, Joel, a seasoned smuggler, will be tasked with getting Ellie, a 14-year-old

Although the series’ plot may be recognisable to fans, Druckman has previously stated that it will be comparable to the games but distinct from them.

The next series will also have Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker from the game’s voice cast

Executive producers include Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Rose Lam in addition to Mazin and Druckmann.

The Last of Us’ nine-episode first season premieres on January 15 on HBO and is streamable on HBO Max.
