The iconic Ric Flair has taken to social media to extend his apologies following his statements about a “three-headed monster”—comprising Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo, and Jim Herd—being responsible for WCW’s collapse.
The remarks made by the WWE Hall of Famer accused “the people in charge” of breeding “dysfunction, animosity, and dividing and conquering by lying to everyone,” while adding that their personal involvement in WCW was a “catastrophic failure.”
After receiving a response from Russo, which led to the Nature Boy suggesting a proposal, Flair posted an apology directed to the trio, admitting he “unfairly judged” them without complete insight into “the inner workings and the behind-the-scenes of the business on the corporate side.”
Bischoff has addressed the initial comments made by Flair on his 83 Weeks podcast which was streamed live following the last night’s episode of Who Killed WCW?, indicating:
I’m sure Ric has his opinions, and they’re real to Ric in his mind and he still feels strongly about it, obviously, but it doesn’t mean he’s right. It’s just his opinion. It would be like me saying well wait, I’ve produced over 5000 hours of prime-time television, I should be able to wrestle a 20-minute match, I should be able to critique Ric Flair’s matches.
In response to Flair’s apology, Russo has also issued a statement.
