Helen Mirren is stirred up she finally gets to drive in the upcoming installment of the famous Fast and Furious franchise, titled F9. Mirren is one of few entertainers left in Hollywood with legendary stage and screen status. As she is the solitary individual to achieve the Triple Crown of Acting in both the US and UK. She is a multiple-time Academy Award nominee for her jobs in Robert Altman’s Gosford Park and her exhibition as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006’s The Queen, before finally winning an Oscar in 2009 for the Leo Tolstoy biopic, The Last Station, in which Mirren featured as the popular creator’s wife, Sofya.
Mirren wants to get in the driver’s seat in a Fast and Furious movie multiple times. She previously showed up in The Fate of the Furious and Hobbs and Shaw. However she did not get to drive in either one of those films in a franchise known for high-speed action successions. A month ago, it was uncovered that Mirren finally got her wish when the F9 trailer included a brief snippet of Mirren leading a high-speed police pursue with Vin Diesel’s Dom riding shotgun. In an interview with ET, Mirren was ecstatic about finally getting to drive:
I finally did it, yes! Furthermore, what a vehicle! What’s more, what a drive, down The Mall in London! It was the coolest thing ever. In any case, with Vin close to me Driving him, I mean, that was fantastic! What’s more, I do really realize how to do a twofold declutch. Furthermore, an amazing vehicle. It was a fantasy. F9 featurette Details
A new F9 featurette highlighted the franchise’s dauntless ladies, with Mirren being chief among them. From the beginning, Fast and Furious has been fairly male-centric featuring stars like Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and later on, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, and John Cena.
This shouldn’t imply that there have not been strong female characters too. With Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster playing significant parts in the absolute first Fast and the Furious film. Who will both be reprising those for jobs F9. The franchise has certainly raised its female characters in ongoing installments. As F9 will likewise return characters like Charlize Theron’s Cipher and Nathalie Emmanuel’s Ramsey. With Mirren getting in the driver’s seat in F9, it appears to be the franchise is working towards better integrating its female stars.
