Celebrity Eagles Jackie and Shadow Brave Snowstorm to Protect Nest and Eggs

Amidst a snowstorm in Big Bear Valley, celebrity eagles Jackie and Shadow have shown remarkable dedication to their growing family. Despite facing heavy snowfall totaling 19 inches over three days, the pair has remained vigilant in caring for their three eggs, laid by Jackie on Jan. 25.

According to the latest update from Friends of Big Bear Valley, the nonprofit organization overseeing the Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam, Jackie and Shadow have been sharing responsibilities to ensure the safety of their eggs. Jackie has spent an impressive 35 hours atop the nest, shielding the eggs from ravens and frigid temperatures plunging into the teens.

Meanwhile, Shadow has been tirelessly gathering nesting materials, such as fluff and sticks, whenever weather conditions permit. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the couple continues to demonstrate their resilience and expertise in parenting.

While the severe weather may temporarily disrupt the 24-hour webcam monitoring the nest, Jackie and Shadow remain steadfast in their duties. As the storm persists, their unwavering commitment to their nest and eggs serves as a testament to their strength and determination.

Stay tuned for further updates on Jackie and Shadow’s journey as they navigate through the winter weather and await the hatching of their eaglets.
