Before captivating audiences with her electrifying performances, Danielle dedicated nearly a decade to public service as a public defender and later as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion officer at the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office. However, her passion for music eventually led her to pursue her dreams full-time, marking a significant turning point in her life and career.
In September 2022, Danielle released her debut album, “Some of Us Are Brave,” a masterpiece that effortlessly blends pop, R&B, blues, rock, and soul. The album not only showcases her exceptional vocal prowess but also serves as a platform for her advocacy work in social justice. Inspired by personal experiences, including her brother’s unjust incarceration, Danielle’s music carries a poignant message of resilience, empowerment, and unity.
Throughout her career, Danielle has used her platform to advocate for criminal justice reform and racial equality, emerging as a prominent figure in the Black Lives Matter movement in Rochester. Her commitment to social activism is evident in her music, with tracks like the titular “Some of Us Are Brave” drawing inspiration from Barbara Smith’s seminal work on intersectionality.
In addition to her musical achievements, Danielle has made notable appearances on television, including a role on General Hospital, and has shared the stage with renowned artists at major music festivals like Lollapalooza. Currently, she is working on her second album, poised to further cement her status as a trailblazer in the music industry.
